Thirty minutes in class

GoTalkNow is a free communication app for people that may not be able to speak or communicate verbally or with sign language. This tablet app pairs with switches, works with eye gaze, and can also be used through touchscreen.

The Product

OTs and other helpers can program buttons and games on the app to customize learning for their users. GoTalkNow can help someone communicate their wants and needs, teach cause and effect, and train eye gaze or switch interaction!

Our task this class was to program a game for a young child to use on GoTalkNow. The game trains eye gaze/switch interaction, visual distinguishing, and also teaches cause and effect. We ran into a little trouble with access to WiFi, but in the end the programming process was very quick, especially with the ability to copy and paste buttons.

The Process

Here’s to a fun, playful, and impactful project that brought us back to our childhoods! I would love to see someone play our program and make adjustments based on their needs, likes, and dislikes.
