The Product

The iLean facilitates independence and access to media in all locations of a user’s life, as the iLean folds into a flat, portable board.

The iLean is intended for use by anyone who needs support holding a device at a usable angle. For example, a user who may only have one strong arm and cannot hold up a phone while also using the phone would benefit from the iLean!

In class, we followed Dr. Therese Willkomm’s instructional guide to creating an iLean. Her instructions were clear. However, I’d never worked with corrugated plastic before, so learning how to cut a big sheet of it into the panels I needed was the hardest part of making the iLean.

The Process

Now, I can add corrugated plastic to my repertoire of AT-making materials! It is a great material in terms of both flexibility and strength, as well as accessibility and malleability.
