1. Why OIBPW?
OIBPW = On Impactful Books and Powerful Women
I accredit my identity to the books I’ve read and the role models I’ve met.
From My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She’s Sorry by Fredrik Backman to Your True Home by Thich Nhat Hanh, my favorite books have instructed everything from my writing style and cadence to my morals and goals.
From CEO’s to elementary school teachers to superintendents, the women in my life have taught me everything from the way I move my fingers during meditation to the way I smile when I speak to a crowd.
There is a connection between these two catalysts———a connection I yearn to understand. Conducting this research project is my first step into exploring and appreciating the impactful books and the powerful women in my life.
To begin this project, I reflected on several of the most powerful women in my life and asked them about a book that impacted them and a book they’d recommend to a young girl.
Though this research is a lifelong journey of mine, I’ve put together here my findings so far.
